Great resource for creating a STEM challenge kit for your classroom! For this challenge you will need a Twister mat, or a homemade replicated version. You will also need a spinner with red, yellow, blue, and green. (Alternatively you could tape off two faces of a die and assign the other four numbers to each of the four colors.) You could set this up as 1:1 or assign a group of students to one sphero and rotate turns during game play.
This card set walks students through connecting and aiming their sphero in order to play a game of Twister with the sphero as the "player." This card set utillizes the Lightning Lab app for sphero. There is a writing prompt for when groups finish game play. There is also a card that shows Iowa Core NGSS standards alignment.
Alignment to Iowa Core/ NGSS Standards:
3–5–ETS1–3: Plan and carry out fair tests
in which variables are controlled and
failure points are considered to identify
aspects of a model or prototype that can
3–5–ETS1–1: Define a simple design
problem reflecting a need or a want that
includes specified criteria for success and
constraints on materials, time, or cost.
