### Description

This spider-themed unit is packed with hands-on learning activities for phonics, literacy, math, science, fine motor skills, and art! It can be implemented in a classroom or homeschool setting. All activities include detailed directions and ways to differentiate for your little learners!

This Unit Includes

Science

• Interesting Facts: A sheet with interesting facts to share with your students as you work your way through the unit
• Vocabulary Word Cards: Key vocabulary for the unit
• Life Cycle Poster
• Life Cycle Activity: Students attach pictures to demonstrate the life cycle of a spider

Math

• How Many More?: Students use manipulatives to build ten frames. They work on language such as "how many more" and begin to verbally express addition sentences
• Roll and Count: Students practice subitizing by learning to read the dots on a die and match it to the corresponding number on their board
• Number 8 Mat: Students practice number formation by filling a number 8 with manipulatives and tracing the number
• Spider Count Sensory Bin: Students count the spiders on the web and match the group of spiders on the number on their board

Literacy and Phonics

• The Itsy-Bitsy Spider Picture Match: Display the nursery rhyme on chart paper and have students put pictures to match the words
• The Itsy-Bitsy Spider Sequencing Sheet: Students sequence the nursery rhyme
• The Itsy-Bitsy Spider Letter Hunt: Assign letters to students and have them hunt for them within the nursery rhyme
• "I See a Spider" Book: Children practice following the pattern in a text, one-to-one correspondence, and using picture clues, with this spider book
• Sight Word Color by the Code: Practice the sight words "I" "a" and "see"
• Letter S Mat: Children practice letter formation by filling the letters with manipulatives and tracing

• Spider Web Trace: Practice pen grip and tracing with these activity cards
