Spider Art Activity:
You will need to trace patterns on black paper and cut out. I read “Anansi the Spider” to my class. Then I have them use Q-tips and paint to decorate their spiders. I have students give their spiders a name.
I use black cardstock to print the “the hat” pages(17 – 19). I have students design the 8 leg strips and color eyes and mouth on the front of hat(circle part). Then once all parts are cut, teacher helps staple head- band together. Then place the headband faced down. Have students fold legs and open again. Then students glue four legs on the headband’s back right side(next to head) and four legs on the other. Then measure each student’s head and staple. Students can wear hats home to show their families and tell what they have learned about spiders.
