This Spider Resource/Activity Set includes a Power Point, student reader, Spider Facts Matching Game, and a Diagraph (phonics) Spider Web activity.
The Power Point is a short 8 slide Power Point that provides students with some basic information and provides the teacher an opportunity to expand on learning by providing information from other resources. The last slide provides student with the opportunity to partner share the things that they have learned.
The 8 page student reader mirrors the Power Point, which is why I limited the text in the Power Point. I wanted students to truly be able to read it. The reader is actually 4 printed pages, but cut in half it makes the 8.
The Spider Facts Matching game also mirrors the facts on the Power Point. There are 9 matching pair and the game is played by simply laying the cards face down and turning them over to make a match.
I’ve also included a Diagraph Spider Web activity. I had to include it just because I like it. Students cut the spider off at the bottom of the page and use it to move around the paper. They read the words and then circle them. To expand on this activity you can have students use different color crayons to read and circle several times. Another idea is to have students glue the spider onto a Popsicle stick. This way when they have finished doing the activity they have the stick as a reading stick or bookmarker.
