This resource contains two word search puzzles about spiders that review vocabulary related to spiders. The terms used in one or both word searches are: abdomen, arthropod, arachnid, cephalothorax, eight, fangs, insects, mummy, orb, paralyze, poison, prey, recluse, seven, silk, spinnerets, sticky, sucks, two, weave, web and widow. One word search includes a vocabulary list of 14 words which makes it easier. When completed, a hidden message about spiders can be found.
The second word search is more difficult. Instead of a word list, 16 clues are given. The students must figure out what words the clues represent; then write the answer to the clue on the given line. They then search for that word in the puzzle. You might use the one with the word list as a review and the one with the clues and no word list as a homework assignment or as a quiz.
Both puzzles are a supplement to a mini unit called “Spiders,” but the word searches can definitely be used without that resource. Answers keys for both puzzles are included.
