In this mini-unit, students will read and explore the text, "Spider's and Their Webs", by Darlyne A. Murawski. The mini-unit includes: a suggested pacing guide, student packet, powerpoint presentation, and art project. The mini-unit focuses on different spiders, their similarities, differences, and how they adapt their webs and hunting habits to their environments. Students will read the informational text, and use the packet to take notes. The packet also includes pages that require students to investigate an online resource (if needed the powerpoint summarizes the information-a good way for students to check their answers). Lastly, an art project reflects on what students have learned and challenges students to design a web and explain how (informational writing) a spider would catch its prey in their web. Enjoy!
