This product will help your students practice correct letter formation in an engaging way. After we have practiced the letter formation for each letter, along with verbal cues to help students remember, I put this activity in a center. The students spin to see which color marker to use to write each letter. Practicing the correct formation repeatedly will help create muscle memory that enables students to form letters fluently. This is a skill we work on continuously in my kindergarten class. I have found that students who are able to form letters efficiently are more proficient writers during Writing Workshop, when responding to text, recording observations in Science Notebooks, etc.
This packet includes practice for lowercase letters a - z.
Preparation is easy:
1. Print the page for the letter students will practice.
2. Print and laminate the color chart & “I Can” poster.
3. Print and make the spinner.
4. Put these items, along with markers, crayons, or colored pencils in a center.
The packet includes multiple ideas for creating the spinners. Choose the one that works best for you.
