6 Spinner Pages [Color and BW versions]
2 Recording Sheets
2 Pages of Student Directions
I hope you and your students enjoy this activity and I hope it saves you some time creating word problems! Students fill in the blanks (Mad Lib style) to create a silly word problem to solve.
Spinners included will create:
-addition and subtraction problems to 100
-add/sub to 1,000
-division problems with 2 digit dividend using facts through 9's to solve
My 3rd graders use these during math stations but it could easily be used for small or whole group. I’ve also used the spinner on the document camera to create a problem for everyone to solve as an exit slip.
Teacher Prep: 1 copy of a spinner page
and the matching recording sheet per student
as well as 1 paper clip, and one dot cube.
Full Disclosure- I struggled, and I mean STRUGGLED, establishing the sentences knowing the grammar was incorrect. [The generic “how many do they have” question really tested my limits.] Please know that it was the best way that I could find to set up the sentences and I apologize for it from the bottom of my heart!
If you like this activity please leave feedback. I’d love to hear how you used it!
