This is a super-fun, but highly effective game for students to enjoy while practicing their multiplication skills.
It’s played in the style of “Bingo”, only there’s no caller. Each child has their own game board and spins their own spinner to determine the square they’ll fill in or place their “Bingo chip” on. This makes the game more flexible with respect to the number of players that can play in one round. I found that 3-4 players per round worked best.
Each game board is a different multiple. Students will practice their multiplication facts from 2x7 up to 10x7.
The game is pretty much print and go! All your students need is a paper-clip for their spinner and either some beans or Bingo chips to mark their place. I had my students color their boxes instead of using beans/chips but I quickly realized this wasn’t very eco-friendly and didn’t allow for multiple rounds to be played at a time.
Printing the game boards on card stock and then laminating them certainly makes them more durable. I even put mine in Ziploc bags and allowed my students to sign them out for a few nights at a time to play with their families.
I’ve also used this game for my early finishers, regardless of the subject or Math strand we’re working on. For many students it was a great motivator to get their work done so they could enjoy the game with a classmate.
