This fun game can be run as a math center or with partners to practice multiplying whole numbers by decimal numbers (to hundredths). Students will love the game format while they model multiplication expressions.
1. Students will represent a multiplication expression (using a whole number and a decimal number) using a model diagram.
2. Students will determine the product of a whole number and decimal (to hundredths) from a model diagram.
3. Students will explain what is represented by the factors and product in a multiplication expression.
5.NBT.7 – Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between inverse operations; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.
