This is a handout consisting of a series of eleven questions based on the popular film Spirited Away, by Hayao Miyazaki. It took several hours to write and format and was refined after repeated use over a period of several months.
Lined spaces are provided beneath each question. The sheets can be printed for students to write on directly. Alternatively, teachers can write questions on the board for students to answer in their notebooks.
Use as a stand-alone lesson or to accompany a screening of the film.
The activity emphasises the characters and themes found in Spirited Away. The activity encourages literacy through short and long responses to reflection style questions. The activity is designed to encourage enhanced engagement with the film.
Suitable for foreign language studies classes as well as English/Literacy film studies. The target group is upper primary to junior high school students.
