Students will individually describe a sport, work in pairs or groups to create a mash-up, illustrate their sport mash-up, and write a letter to introduce and advocate for their sport.
I have used this as an upper elementary ELA activity before a Sports' Day to get students thinking about sports and what they're about (while secretly introducing some teamwork, critical thinking, presentation skills, and letter writing).
I have also used this in beginner-intermediate ESL classrooms to accompany topical English units about Hobbies & Sports. Depending on students' ability levels, I assign the last page letter writing as in-class group work (beginner) or individual homework (intermediate).
