PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Sports Nutrition course will help your student athletes make better choices about nutrition and their health. I love the fact that this class has the potential to make a huge impact on their performance both on and off the field.

The third unit that I am posting is entitled Nutrients. The content for this unit will last approximately six days. The topics include:

Day 1: Macro-nutrients and Micro-nutrients
Day 2: Exercise-related Anemia (lesson and exercise)
Day 3: Anemia Lab (non-heme iron – spinach dip with whole wheat crackers and honey nut cheerios snacks)
Day 4: Anemia Lab (heme iron lab - Chicken Noodle Soup with whole grain muffins, jiffy or whole wheat crackers)
Day 5: Relationship between Nutrition and Performance
Day 6: Unit Test


CONTENT STANDARD S:
• Analyze the importance of macro- and micro nutrients in choosing nutritious foods for an athlete.
• Analyze the impact of exercise related anemia on an athlete’s fitness.
• Examine the relationship between nutrition and physical performance.
