Description

The summer games are coming to Tokyo, Japan in 2020 ... or 2021! Activities like this informational text reading passage will get your students engaged and excited about this global event. Students will learn about basketball at the Games, including the new 3x3 basketball event makings its debut!

The reading passage is two pages and discusses information related to the history of basketball, countries that have been successful in the sport, the tournament, rules, and the new 3x3 event. A "words to know" box is also included to help with vocabulary building. There are five reading comprehension questions for student to complete after reading the text. The questions require students to compare and contrast, discuss how basketball at the Games has changed over time, and share opinions about the sport while citing evidence from the text.
