It's that time of year!! Christmas is in the air, and who's everyone's favorite guy at this time of year? Santa, of course! This Santa is into some extreme sports!
This simple but fun game is designed for your short articulation or fluency sessions (5-10 minutes) although it can also be used for longer sessions, too. In fact, it can be used for any skill that students need a little motivation to complete!
Just set a timer and begin drilling any skill (completing math facts, reading sight words, answering questions, saying articulation targets, using fluency strategies, etc. After your student says completes the given task to your liking (3 times, 5 times, etc) allow him/her to pick a card. If it’s a SPORTY SANTA card he/she gets to keep it. If it’s one of the wild cards, follow the directions on the card. When the timer rings, the child with the most SPORTY SANTA cards wins! This game is particularly perfect for working on /t/, /s/, /s/ blends and vocalic r "or" variation.
As an alternate way to play (that incorporates spontaneous connected speech), challenge students to describe or make a sentence about the extreme Santa they pick while using their best speech.
* 25 colorful Sporty Santa cards and 5 wild cards
* Christmas themed list of targets sorted by phoneme.
Just print, cut, & play (laminate for durability). No wasted paper
