Spot the Match is a card game for 2-6 players consisting of 31 cards containing 6 pictures of words that begin with the prevocalic /r/ sound , and one word list card. One—and only one—matching word exists between any two cards. Get ready to Spot the Match.
~ Shuffle the cards and deal one card face-down to each student. Place the remaining cards face-up in the middle of the table to form the draw pile.
~ All students flip over their cards at the same time. They try to spot the one /r/ picture that appears both on the card in the center of the table and on their own card.
~ If a student finds matching words, that student says the word and/or a sentence. If the word is produced correctly, s/he takes the center card and places it on his/her own pile face up. If there are no matching words, the center card is placed in the bottom of the draw pile. The play continues with students trying to match the top card in their personal pile to the new card in the center. The play continues until no cards remain in the draw pile. The student with the most cards is the winner.
