I used this power point to show the fall of the Soviet Union and the spread of democracy throughout Eastern Europe. It begins with the issues within Russia during the 1980s and the reform implemented by Gorbachev. There are different mini case studies of Poland, Germany, and Baltic Region and how the drive for democracy was strongly felt in those nations. It covers the issues popping up within the Soviet Union which leads to their downfall and the rise of democracy with the first democratic election. Then I wrapped up this power point covering issues Boris Yeltsin faced trying to modernized the Russian economy and issues that former Soviet states faced as they made the transition to democracy. This power point has covered two full forty-five minute classes.
