I love having discussions with my students about how kindness makes the world better and beautiful, just like flowers do. Every single act of kindness, makes the world a better place, no matter how big or small! I love discussing with my students about other acts of kindness that someone has done for them or they have seen or heard about in history or in the present before we begin this project. I typically read a story to my students first about kindness as well. One of my all time favorites is Kindness Matters by Jacqueline Woodson.
You can have students “earn” their petals. When a student completes an act of kindness and fills out their "I am kind" sheet (and you approve!), they can write it on a petal and add it to their flower.
You can also have students complete their flowers all at one time.
I love using this as a bulletin board for spring and was inspired by a quote from Amelia Earhart. This activity has so much meaning to it and the students are always so proud of all of their acts of kindness! We always try to have other classrooms in our school complete our acts of kindness with us too!
I have included:
The Amelia Earhart quote on one page.
The Amelia Earhart quote with each word or two on a page so you could use that on your bulletin board.
2 different petal options
2 different bud options
2 different stem options
4 different leaf options
1 page with 5 optional prompts
Thank you so much for your purchase and please remember to leave feedback and a comment to earn TPT credits!! :)
