SPRING ANTONYMS CROSSWORD PUZZLE provides valuable practice with antonyms.
This NO PREP spring-themed activity includes word pairs that might be used in seasonal writing projects.
The student will solve each clue in the crossword puzzle by selecting the appropriate antonym from the Word Box. Next, the student will generate three antonym pairs and write each pair in flower graphics that are positioned around the puzzle.
Here is what this packet includes:
♥ crossword puzzle (including flower graphics for student-generated antonym pairs)
♥ answer key
♥ Teacher Notes
I created this activity with my 3rd graders in mind, but it will provide standards-based practice for 4th and 5th graders as well.
This activity is aligned with the following Common Core ELA-Language Standards:
♥ Third Grade (L.3.5) Demonstrate understanding of figurative language, word relationships, and nuances in word meanings.
♥ Fourth Grade (L.4.5.C) Demonstrate understanding of words by relating them to their opposites (antonyms)...
♥ Fifth Grade (L.5.5.C) Use the relationship between particular words (e.g., synonyms, antonyms, homographs) to better understand each of the words.
