Here are a couple of my favorite spring writing activities to do in my kindergarten and first grade classrooms. Here students write a book about what we might find in a spring basket based on Brown Bear, Brown Bear or their own idea.
I bind these books and give them to the parents as a spring/Easter gift. For Kindergarten and my Firstiesvthat need writing prompts I give them the pages with blanks to fill in. For my higher writers, I give them blank lines to write an original story.
I have also included a half-size version to write and a color and black-and-white version to read. I like to read the color version to my students before they create their own books.
Also included is a tulip-shaped writing paper, both with the outline for a 5 Senses Poem and with just plain writing lines, great for a spring bulletin board.
