This fun and engaging phonics resource was created to give 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students practice with reading a specific set of season-related words and phrases. Students will have so much fun reading these silly and goofy words and phrases that they won’t realize is what they’re really doing is strengthening their oral language development, rhyming, and sight/high frequency word skills!
How It Works: Students take one deep breath, exhale, then read all of the words and phrases in the breath box all within the NEXT breath. Each read time (in either seconds, minutes, or number of reads) can be recorded on a recording or tracking sheet.
*Two (2) Spring Breath Box Student Covers
*Three (3) Spring Breath Box Recording Sheets (Recording Sheets A, B, C)
*Twenty (20) Spring Breath Boxes

*With the exception of the cover and a few graphics/pictures, this product has been produced entirely using black, gray, and white ink.
*Depending on the academic needs and levels of your kiddos, you may wish to have your students practice reading the breath boxes a few times BEFORE being timed. Note: For your students who have chronic respiratory or breathing issues, you may wish to just have them naturally read each breath box without the use of timers.
*For your convenience, there are two (2) breath boxes on each page, for a total of (twenty) 20 breath boxes. Note: There are three (3) versions of the recording and tracking sheets included with this resource. You may choose the one you’d like for your students to use depending on their academic needs and levels. Be sure to have extra copies on hand for your fast finishers. :)
*These spring breath boxes make a perfect addition to your literacy or reading stations and centers. They also work great as morning/seatwork/bell fluency warm-ups.
*Laminate (or place in plastic protective sleeves) the practice pages to ensure years of usage and durability. Suggestion: After laminating, hole-punch left side of the breath box practice pages and “ring” them together with binder rings. Hang the ringed practice pages on a wall as a space saver.
Happy reading spring breath boxes! :)
