Worms and Composting

This unit is packed full of activities all about worms and composting. This unit includes directions for having a compost in your classroom. (I did this activity with a grade 2 class and they loved monitoring the breakdown of the fruit peels). I have also included a variety of activities designed to help your students have a better understanding of these little misunderstood creatures.

The learning outcomes of this unit are:
-To gain a greater understanding of worm habitat, life cycle, and parts.
-To gain a greater understanding of composting and the role that worms play in composting.
-To gain a greater understanding of biodegradable materials.

April Math Word Problem of the Day

In this package you will find a April themed word problem for each school day in April. (Please note: The math questions for the month of April are a nice variety of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, time, and probability math questions that are perfect for grades 3-4).

The word problems are presented in two different ways.

-You can choose to print off word problems weekly with Monday and Tuesday on the first page and Wednesday-Friday on the back of the same page.

-Or you can choose to print off each question on its own separate page with lots of room for students to work out the math problem.

All of the pages have room for students to draw pictures to help work out the math problems and a lined space for students to write their full answers in sentences.

The answer key is included.
