Yay! Spring is on its way! Prepare by using these Spring Math Centers designed for Kinders. Written to Kinder Common Core Standards, they will be perfect for reviewing those important skills they need at this time. First Graders in need of some review may also benefit from using these centers.
Included in this unit are the following skills/centers:
~Count and Clip: In this center, students will be counting the number of syllables in the picture words shown. They use a clothespin to clip their answer.
~Noun Sort: Students will be asked to sort noun cards into people, places, and things categories.
~Sight Words: This center asks the students to unscramble letters to make sight words. They will use a dry erase marker to practice writing the unscrambled words.
~Digraph Sort: Students will sort the picture words into groups of digraph categories.
~Vowel Sound Sort: This center asks the students to sort picture words by long and short vowel sounds.
~Rhyming Match: Here, students will match a word to a picture word that rhymes.
~Picture and Sentence Matching: This center has the students look at real photos and match them to sentences that explain what might be happening in the photo.
~BONUS CENTER: For those students that are ready for it, this center allows you to differentiate by having students count and clip with a clothespin, the number of syllables they hear in a picture word. This center goes up to four syllables if you choose!
All the centers have a cheery theme, using engaging clip art, sure to brighten their day. There are recording sheets included with each center also for additional practice.
Please see the preview for a glimpse of some pages from each center. Not all pages are shown, but you'll get to see the idea behind each center included.
