Product Description
In order to correctly color a Spring picture of a large flower next to the famous phrase, "April Showers Bring May Flowers," students must determine whether the values in this coloring page are less than 1/2, greater than 1/2, or equal to 1/2. Students will color the fractions and decimals in the picture pink if they are less than one half, yellow if they are greater than one half, and green if they are equivalent to one half. Teachers may choose to differentiate by allowing or prohibiting the use of calculators.
This interactive coloring activity helps students to develop the fundamental skill of using 1/2 as a benchmark when comparing fractions and/or decimals and when determining the reasonableness of answers.
We created this activity to align with Virginia Math SOLs 4.2a, 5.2a, 5.2b, and 6.2d, but it also aligns with the following Common Core Math Standards:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.NF.C.7 CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.NF.A.2
We hope this coloring page is a fun way for your students to demonstrate their understanding of 1/2 as a benchmark!
