Reinforce sight words, color words, writing a response, and main idea and details with this fun and engaging emergent reader! My "Spring Colors" mini book practices the sight words we, can, see, in, the, and, little, on, by, of, and color words. The story features predictable text and follows two kids on a walk looking for spring colors. I have included three response activities. First, students will read sentences and draw pictures to match. Second, students will draw a picture of something they see in the springtime and write a matching sentence. Last, students will complete a “petal flip flap” main idea and details graphic organizer. Given the main idea, students will draw and write details from the text. Detailed directions are included with this easy to complete activity! Once complete, students will be eager to share their creations. You can also attach the completed flowers to colorful construction paper to create a springtime bulletin board or wall display.
