This Lunetta Lit Spring Equinox Unit includes six lessons(NGSS-aligned) to help you and your students investigate the magic of the equinox through artistic inquiry. Everybody Needs A Rock(poetry cairns) and Who Has Seen the Wind?(poetry pinwheels) are poetry activities that investigate the NGSS physical science strand(force & motion) and the CCSS ELA writing standards for K-1.The lessons include: a bibliography; online resources; and worksheets as well as directions for art projects. The Spring Equinox lesson is whole group and provides a base for the rest of the lessons. There are directions for creating a rainstick and a snowball experiment that introduces students to the artist Andy Goldsworthy. If you are tired of worksheets and are looking for a creative way to address the NGSS science standards then this is the unit for you!
