Celebrate spring and build your students' understanding and skills in rhythm reading, writing, and aural recognition; improvising, composing, playing, and performing. This spring-themed set is loaded with 70 text-to-rhythm cards, 48 possible ostinato strips / measure mats, and four detailed lesson plans with suggestions for extensions and variations. These materials also provide real-time assessments. Here's a very brief outline:
1 - Explore text-based rhythms, discover/write rhythm notation, add solfege (if desired), and play an ear-training game.
2- Analyze measures of rhythm and perform rhythm patterns as layered ostinatos using body percussion or instruments.
3- Using one-beat rhythm cards, explore text-based rhythms and compose and perform measures and short pieces.
4 - In a center or small group activity, match picture cards to the rhythms on beat mats and perform them.
I hope you and your students will find this very helpful and joyful.
