Flowers have short and long (CVCe) word families on them (a, e, i, o, and u). The petals have consonants and blends. Students pick petals that will make a real work with the flower. (Ex: if the flower is –am. Students could pick the j petal to make jam, p petal to make Pam, cl petal to make clam)
