PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Got ‘em reading and now wondering if comprehension and analysis skills are keeping up? These games, activities, and small group tasks will offer practice on reading for details, inferring, determining cause and effect, sorting facts vs. opinions, deciding on contractions or possessives, looking hard at irregular plural nouns, and vowel teams. These skills typically fall into the first and second grade range but if you have high flying kinders or struggling readers at this level, these would suit them also. So, grab some counters, spinner pieces, and bags to help with assembly and organization. Once you copy on cardstock, laminate, and do some simple cutting, you’ll have centers for years to come.

Included resources:

• Spider Stories deal with demonstrating an understanding of key details in stories.
• Fact and Opinion Birds offer a chance for even first graders to categorize some simple phrases.
• Singular/Plural Noun Puzzles
• Is It a Contraction or a Possessive?
• Topping Off Cause and Effect offers students scenarios to read and determine causes and effects
• Peeping at Vowel Teams-3 game boards
• Springing into Inferring has students reading sentences, thinking, and locating the inference.
• Easter Writing Prompts-two
