Here are some common core aligned, colorful literacy centers just in time for spring! Just print, laminate, and your centers are ready to go!
*Vowel Team Word Cards (differentiated: 56 one-syllable words and 30 multi-syllabic words): Play Go Fish, Memory Match, Sort by vowel team (record sheet included)
*4 Types of Sentences: Students will read 20 spring sentences, add end punctuation, sort into sentence type, and create their own sentence for each type (4 posters included, sorting mats, and recording sheet).
*Noun, Adjective, Verb Sort (12 of each) Sorting mats and recording sheet included
*Syllable Sort: Students will read words (written on colorful eggs) and sort (in baskets) according to the type of syllable. Includes 24 words: 6 each magic e, vowel teams, open, & closed.
*Suffix ed, s, ing: Students will read 18 words and circle root words. They will then find the 3 words that have the same root word (6 root words included). They will write a sentence with one ed, s, and ing word on paper provided.
*ABC Order (differentiated): Students will choose either 6, 12, or all 18 words written on bunny cards and write on recording sheets provided.
*Narrative Writing: This is my favorite and I think students will enjoy this writing experience. There are 12 spring character cards, 4 setting cards, and 6 theme cards. You may choose not to use the theme cards (or differentiate and use it only with those students who are ready) and the activity will still work well. I love having the students write with a theme in mind because it strengthens their skill of identifying the theme when reading (huge common core standard across grade levels). A graphic organizer is included. I also included a completed graphic organizer and narrative written by my 7 year old daughter. She wanted to write more because she loved the character cards and picking a theme.
*Two Read & Visualize: Students will read the paragraph, form a picture in their mind, and then draw it!
*Sentence Scrambler: Five sentences to unscramble and write.
