This file includes 4 activities. Three are for adult led small groups and one is an independent center. The games include:
Ducks on the Pond: Students take one card and count the number of ducks. They take enough duck playing pieces to make 10. For instance, if their card shows 8 ducks, they would take 2 duck pieces. The student with the most duck playing pieces at the end wins.
Spring Friends Make 10: This is a board game played with a die. Students roll and land on the number and give the partner number to make 10. Two versions of this game exist- one with numerals and one with pictures similar to 10 frames.
Play Dough Center: Students use two colors of Play Dough to show different ways to make 10 in a ten frame.
Birds Come Home: Students receive a number strip. Each student takes a turn and must accurately give the partner number to make 10. If the student is able to make 10 without help, he or she gets a bird to cover the square. If student is unable to give the partner number without help, student does not get a bird on this turn, but will need to accurately give the partner number on the next turn. Student who cover all of his/her numbers first wins.
