These are first grade common core mathematics centers for the spring.
There are SIX common core centers included in this bundle!!
Center 1: Growing Flowers
SWBAT: Order three objects by length
Center 2: Rain, Rain, GO AWAY!!
SWBAT: Express the length of an object as a whole number of length units, by laying multiple copies of a shorter object (the length unit) end to end; understand that the length measurement of an object is the number of same-size length units that span it with no gaps or overlaps.
Center 3: Buggin’ Out
SWBAT: Compare the lengths of two objects indirectly by using a third object
Center 4: Time for Spring
SWBAT: Tell and write time to the half-hour using “o’clock” and digital notation.
Center 5: 2D Shape- Who Am I?
SWBAT: Name the attributes of a given two-dimensional shape (square, triangle, rectangle, regular hexagon)
Center 6: Build-a-Shape **Teacher Provided Popsicle Sticks Needed**
SWBAT: Draw and build shapes when given defining attributes (e.g., 3 sides, 4 sides, 3 corners, 4 corners).
These activities can be reproduced for whole group or small group center rotations. They include center materials (except for popsicle sticks) as well as student accountability sheets. Discussions after each activity or with other students can extend students’ understanding of these standards!
Also, the fun spring theme will excite students to learn more about these math concepts!
