Bridge the gap between subitizing and abstract representations of addition with these ten frames addition cards and printables. This set helps children grasp addition facts within ten with addends within five.
When showing a ten frame card to your students, have them show the fact with their fingers, matching one hand with each side of the ten frame. Then help them recite the number combination and total, followed by the equation (3, 4…7 or 3+4=7). I have also included seven worksheets to allow students some time for independent practice. Three of the worksheets are cut and paste activities, which allow for fine motor practice.
These activities are great for teaching the common core math standards for operations and algebraic thinking in kindergarten. They also encourage number sense and fact automaticity!
