Product Description
In this mini- unit, students will write a four stanza poem to describe Spring using adjectives, nouns, and verbs.

Writing Task included and I can statement.

Directions:

Start this unit by reading spring poetry, any book related to spring, or taking a walk around the school to observe the changes going on outside.

Brainstorm a list of things (nouns) we see in Spring. As students share their ideas write them on chart paper or any graphic organizer to create a class map.

Have students pick 4 nouns from the graphic organizer, and write them on their personal maps. These are the nouns students will use to write their spring poems.

Explain to students that as they start writing their poems, they need to write down the “nouns” first from their graphic organizers onto their classification maps. Once students write the nouns, they can begin describing each noun, telling what it can do, and where it can be found.

Students can then read their rough draft copies to a partner before writing their final draft.
