Product Description
Spring Readers' Theater Poems: THE OCTOPUS ON MY HEAD: A SPRINGTIME SILLY POEMS COLLECTION: An 8-poem collection of funny readers’ theater scripts and accompanying vocabulary pages. These short poetry readers' theater scripts are perfect for partner reading fluency practice.

The 8 readers' theater poems in THE SPRINGTIME SILLY POEMS COLLECTION are:
* The Octopus on My Head
* Week on the Beach
* Spring-cleaning Doom
* Spring Things
* It's Too Bad That Sam Liked Flowers
* Jill McTibble's Garden (FREEBIE DOWNLOAD!)
* A Trip with My Umbrella
* Collecting Animal Babies

Each readers' theater springtime poem is presented as a short, stand-alone readers' theater script for two readers. However, three additional readers' theater silly-poem compilations are also provided—each comprised of 2–3 of the poems from the collection woven into a single script, making it so a larger group of students has a longer script to practice and perform.

The scripts include lists of “Watch-out words!” This feature highlights challenging words for which students may need help as they practice. These words also make terrific candidates for classroom vocabulary instruction.

If you choose to do script-based vocabulary instruction, Word Work vocabulary pages are provided for the three readers' theater silly-poem compilations. Each vocabulary page uses four of the “Watch-out words!” from the corresponding silly-poem compilation. A Word Work: Sample Answer Key provides a basic, kid-friendly explanation of each word’s meaning, which can be used when actively teaching students the words.

For a classroom reading block, readers’ theater can be used as a student-monitored station during small-group instructional time, and a Weekly Practice Checklist provides a framework for students’ day-by-day practice.

Additional materials include a basic overview of readers' theater, numerous tips and tricks for successful implementation, and a listing of some of the applicable Common Core Standards for grades 3-5.

THE OCTOPUS ON MY HEAD: A SPRINGTIME SILLY POEMS COLLECTION is ready to provide a fast, funny, and favorite source of readers' theater fluency practice for your students!
