This r squared creation bundle is a compilation of all of the documents and PowerPoints I have created to use in the Spring semester of my Algebra course, which aligns to Chapters 6 thru 10 of the Holt Algebra textbook. It includes a PowerPoint for every section taught and a homework worksheet for every section in which I found the textbook was inefficient. Each chapter has an Assignment Sheet, quiz(zes), Practice Test, Review worksheet, Most Missed Question Worksheet, and Test. All of the PowerPoints, worksheets, and assessments are directly aligned with the textbook. I set the rigor to a level where kids can understand it, yet still score Proficient/Advanced on the state Standardized Test.
This bundle covers the second semester of the Holt Algebra textbook in a way that your students will learn from even faster and with less confusion. The chapters covered are Chapter 6 (Systems of Equations and Inequalities), Chapter 7 (Exponents and Polynomials), Chapter 8 (Factoring Polynomials), Chapter 9 (Quadratic Functions and Equations), and Chapter 10 (Rational Functions and Equations).
Though all of the documents are superb, I feel the main attraction of my curriculum are the PowerPoints. The PowerPoints have a heading page, warm-up, notes, classwork, summary, and a ticket out the door. The notes show step-by-step how to solve the problem. The best benefit to teaching using a PowerPoint is that it does wonders for classroom management. No longer do I ever have my back turned to the class. I am able to sit right next to any student who is off-task to make sure they are working, while at the same time continuing the notes (I use a PowerPoint clicker allowing me to continue the PowerPoint from anywhere in the classroom). The PowerPoint also reduces my prep time to zero. All I have to do is start the PowerPoint and it guides me through the rest, making sure every concept is taught that is in the homework.
At the end of the year I always do a teacher evaluation. The number one thing my students always say they like are the PowerPoints. The students like the structure, and they like how it is clean and easy to see. They like how the information is presented in way that is logical and easy to comprehend. I have seen the PowerPoints that come with the Holt Algebra textbook, and my main problem with them is I feel that their PowerPoints do not meet the students where they are. My PowerPoints do.
What is also nice is that all of the PowerPoints and documents are editable. So if you want to change a worksheet, or teach a problem a different way, you are free to do so (you may need to download MathType
