These spring themed activities can be used as an introduction to the sorting of objects according to multiple attributes.
Children will sort objects in multiple ways. Activities increase in difficulty as students are given more possibilities for sorting categories.
Students will sort:
*butterflies - by size, pattern, and antennae shape
*umbrellas – by pattern, handle shape, and handle color
*children in raincoats- by gender, # of buttons, and boot color
*flowers- by stem length, # of leaves, shade (dark or light), and type (daisy or tulip)
*birds- by size, color, beaks (long or short), and position (flying or perching)
To differentiate, teachers may challenge students to identify sorting categories on their own or assist students by assigning sorting rules (included in the packet).
The pages can be implemented as cut and sort activity sheets.
Teachers may also choose to precut and laminate manipulatives for center activities.
A3 paper is recommended for center use.
The packet includes both a black and white and color version.
