Description

Spring "Write a Story" writing centers begin by having students orally construct stories. Students will work towards composing a written story with a strong beginning, middle, and an ending (BME). Students will write using appropriate describing details.

Your kiddos will be inspired to write with the colorful, fun SPRING pictures cards used to create their stories. Some of the clipart includes: plant parts, flowers, Easter eggs, weather graphics, rainbow, frog, birdhouse, etc. You can use the writing activities as mini-lessons and / or writing centers.

Idea development is very complex skill and continues to be an area of concern with students in grades Kindergarten all the way up to 12th grade. These activities are also appropriate to use with older students that are struggling with idea development in writing. The lessons are good for RTI / Intervention lessons.

The Spring writing centers cover the following areas:

  • Idea development
  • Coming up with details to address a specific prompt
  • Breaking down writing into smaller steps
  • Selecting the best details to use in writing
  • Brainstorming unique ideas to write about
  • Using personal connections in our writing
  • This kit can also be used as an RTI Writing Intervention

These activities are appropriate for lessons and / or writing centers.

Included in this writing download:

  • Tell a Story CENTER (oral / prewriting)
  • Write a Story CENTER
  • BME Anchor Charts (beginning, middle, end)
  • 12 Spring writing papers
  • 4 writing papers to be used any season
  • 72 colored clip art picture cards to use with the telling and writing activities
  • 3 blank picture card sets for students to create their own
