Spring is a great time to think about poetry and writing, and this activity is a fun way to display students' spring writing! Included is a flower template, a lined circle template to go inside the flower, and a variety of writing activities to put on the flowers. Writing activities include a graphic organizer for the five senses (to write a "five sense" poem about spring), a "steps in the process" graphic organizer (to write the steps on planting a flower), and a "Makes Me Think Of" poetry graphic organizer (to write a spring poem). You can choose one activity and have students glue it to the flower, or you can do all three and staple them together before affixing to the flower to make a spring writing booklet. In the past, I have had students draw a plant life cycle in the center of the circle, and then stapled the poetry "booklet" over it - this looks fabulous on a bulletin board and encourages passers-by to flip open each flower to see what's inside!
