This packet includes 5 different types of art theme centers. This is a great lesson/project to do before spring or summer breaks. At each table, I place an example of a completed sheet. I also place certain materials at the table for them to use (expose them to new and different ones I don't use in class much). Each table should have a different medium. For instance, I would post the Wassily Kandinsky sheet at the table usually tape to a large can.. I would personally do the work in his style to show it (i.e. his famous circles). Also, I would place markers there for them to use. I give students 5-6 minutes per table to work at it (Usually not enough time if you have shorter bells, BUT this is fast pace and fun for their exposure). I would give them a minute to clean up and after time is up.. I blow a little whistle. They switch to the next center (I use masking tape arrows to point to the next table) and turn the page in their packet. Next, they might use color pencils or crayons for a different artist.
Everything is fully explained at the beginning of the lesson. I typically talk about the movement or artist and what contributions they made for the art world. The packet has a brief bio of the artist, but I go further!
These can be changed and altered as needed per grade.
