I use a program in my classroom called Springboard which is a rigorous, college prep curriculum centered on metacognitive skills and collaboration. Although I love the program, I am always looking for ways to "spice up" my lessons!
I created this unit to make Springboard seem more inviting to my students. Sometimes just changing the font and adding a border can make a world of difference! (But this unit includes more than that!) I have included activities, vocabulary, learning target posters, and collaborative discussion set up. All that you need are your favorite narratives, whether they be stories or poetry.
This unit is aligned with the Springboard and CCSS pacing schedule and meant to be taught in the first half of quarter 1.
