This is very similar to the sprints found in Common Core lessons. The only difference is that these are done orally and nothing is written down. The students focus is on getting better each time.
*Students learn their math facts in 5-10 minutes a day! Students love it and teachers love it too! It’s easy, quick, can be used for homework AND nothing is graded and nothing is written down (except the pre and post-test).
*I’ve been teaching for 24 years and I am always amazed at how many students can’t multiply nor divide when they reach 6th grade. That is why I created INAW to teach students their math facts in a fun way. It’s like a game to them and it works!
*Two students work together (compete) to see who can do the say the most problems in two minutes.
*My students LOVE doing “It's Not a Worksheet, ™” because they can see how much growth they make daily and weekly. It takes five minutes a day (or 10 if you want), and the students learn their facts. They do hundreds of problems a week while the teacher sits back and watches them learn.
*I included an example of one of my students who began the year knowing "0" multiplication problems and left the year with doing "97" in two minutes. Her pre-test in division was “0” and her post-test was “98.”
*I use INAW in my classroom daily because I have seen my students make incredible growth learning their math facts. Not only are they learning their math facts, they are building self-esteem and that is priceless. My entire class made incredible improvements from the beginning of the year to the end. I know your students will do the same.
*INAW (It’s Not a Worksheet) is available in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Each one has 3 different books that include 1 digit (ex: 2’s only), 2 digits (ex: 2’s and 3’s) and 3+digits (ex: 2’s,3’s, and 4’s). Each book includes a written pre and post-test.
