This is a fun Passive Voice activity. I say fun because
1. Students create their own fake gadget and present it to the class
2. It involved a movie
It includes simple passive voice (The car was washed by John) as well as passive voice with modals (The car should be washed by John).
This could still be done without the movie portion if you don't have the time or resources.
There are two pages:
The first page includes
A text about technology used during the World Cup games
* Students locate the passive text to reinforce the patterns
The "Make your own gadget" assignment.
*A detailed make your own gadget assignment with questions to help the students phrase their explanation to include the passive.
Then, to show them more examples:
*Watch the clip from the movie (about 3 minutes)
*Fill in the blanks of the gap fill
*Use the information from the gap fill to create passive sentences
Answer Key Included
This was designed for high school EFL students, younger native speakers would probably find it helpful as well.
