This is a powerpoint lesson that I have used for several years with great success. Students will begin by learning about square and cube roots. Then students will use an active participation strategy to fluently simplify square and cube roots. Students will then learn how to estimate square and cube roots using the square and cube root number line. After students have practiced using the number line, they will play the estimation game in partners. Lastly, students will apply this knowledge to determining which rational number is largest and smallest.
