Included in this product you will find 2 sets of task cards on changing improper fractions to mixed numbers and whole numbers, and changing mixed numbers to improper fractions. There are 36 task cards in each set, or 72 task cards altogether. A Student Recording Sheet and answer key is included for each set. Task cards can be used as a whole class activity, bell-ringers, in a Scoot activity, with a partner, as a filler at the end of math class, the variety of uses are endless.
The fraction game involves adding fractions with like and unlike denominators in which some problems involve changing improper fractions into mixed numbers. Students are expected to simplify the fractions. There is a student work sheet included in which they can write the problems and show how they solved them. This gives a little accountability when playing the game. I have also included all the possible answers to all the problems that can be generated in the game, for your convenience.
This game can be played with the whole class, in which case you will want at least one game board for every 2-3 students, or works great as a math center activity, etc.
We all know that students need lots of practice on fraction concepts and using task cards and games is just another way to practice these skills in a different format.
Game and task cards work best if printed in color and laminated, but look fine in grayscale as well.
