For any number 1-9, primary age students need to be able to find the number that makes 10 when added to the given number.
This activity allows the student time to build this understanding. The students will use what they know about ten and the parts of ten to do this activity.
To play, students draw a card and say what is needed to make 10. If correct, they spin the spinner and move along the game trail. The first player to reach the finish is the winner.
NOTE: For spinner the students use a pencil and a paper clip.
Included in this activity are the gameboard, 32 ten frame cards, 2 spinners and directions.
Based on the needs of your students, they could also play the game to answer the question of How many? Students draw a card and tells how many are on the ten frame.
