Copy and assemble the Roll-a-Cube and have an activity you can use in a writing center, during group work, or as a quick review during transitions. A quick brainstorming activity can be used to activate and stretch student thinking. Based on student readiness, it might be helpful to review the target words students will find on the cube.
Students roll the cube to see their task. Students can draft their ideas in a writing journal. Students do not necessarily have to do all six tasks found on the cube. If the same task is rolled, challenge your students to complete the task from another perspective. This encourages students to think flexibly. Or for variety, students can roll the cube again until they get a different task. You decide!
