Delight your students by making reading and writing fun with this St. Patrick's Day holiday lesson (8 pages). Follow Charlie's adventures as he gets kicked out of the leprechaun village, settles into a school classroom and creates havoc which he fixes in the end. His story references the potato famine, if you wish to elaborate on the cultural significance. It includes two versions of Charlie's story written in verse, an activity worksheet, and a picture of Charlie (alias Searlas) you can cut out, laminate, and hide in your classroom for your students to find. One version of the story allows you to write in your name and student's names to personalize the story for your classroom. Student's may read the story individually, as a group, or as story time. The worksheet allows students to practice writing as they answer questions and interpret the story. Space provided for students to write a St. Patrick's Day poem or rhyme if you would like. Feedback and suggestions are always appreciated.
