PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Theme your centers to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with this bundle of literacy and math centers from Little Country Kindergarten.

Included:

Sentence Scrambler Puzzles
-4 five-word sentence puzzles
Have students color, cut, and paste the sight word puzzle pieces in order to create a sentence and make a fun themed picture of a leprechaun, rainbow, or pot of gold. You could also laminate colored versions and attach Velcro to make this a file folder activity. These help my students remember sentences are made up of words in a certain order, not just randomly put together!

Emergent Reader
-Color teacher version
-Black/white student version
Perfect for a guided reading lesson and then to keep as a familiar read in student book boxes to increase fluency.

Vocabulary Cards
-6 cards with picture cue
-Recording sheets for pocket chart center or read/write the room
Use in a pocket chart center, for students to reference during writing block, or hole punch and put on a binder ring for your portable word wall.

Blends Sort
-Sort labels for all types of L, R, and S blends
-Coins with blend pictures on them
Students identify the blend sound by looking at the picture shown on the gold coins and sort the coins into according piles. You can laminate coins and attach magnets to the back for a cookie tray activity, or velcro to the back to make a file folder activity. Print coins 2 sheets to a page for cookie trays or 4 sheets to a page for a file folder. Differentiate by giving students less cards for each blend, only certain focus blends, or having them practice writing the blend sound they hear.

Writing Prompts
Encourage and motivate your young writers with these fun writing prompt papers. Handwriting lines encourage proper letter formation and a picture of a leprechaun, rainbow, or pot of gold allows coloring practice for fine motor skills. Papers are included with sentence starters to help start their stories or without prompts so they can choose what to write about.

Subtraction Task Puzzles
-10 three-piece puzzles
Students practice basic subtraction fact fluency by matching the subtraction task to a picture representation and to the answer itself. Use as a file folder activity or a table center.

Counting On Center
-24 task cards
-4 sheets of shamrock manipulatives
Students counting on from a given number by using dry erase markers to fill in the blanks in a three-number sequence (numbers from 1-30 for differentiation). Shamrock manipulatives are included that you can print, laminate, and cut so students can use them as counting helpers and/or to sequence as a separate center. Use as a file folder activity or a table center.

Making Equations Center
-12 task cards
-1 sheet of pot of gold number manipulatives
Students use dry erase markers to count the number of leprechauns or rainbows in each group and fill in the number below each group to make an equation before solving. For example, four leprechauns (write 4 in the box below) + 2 rainbows (write 2 in the bow below) = and they have to count them all and write the number in the answer box. The boxes make this a structured teaching task when teaching or reviewing writing number sentences or equations. You can also make this a file folder activity by attaching velcro to the boxes and the pot of gold numbers so students can attach the right numbers to the parts in the file folder. Blank cards are included for students to create their own equations as a higher order thinking task.

Finish the Pattern File Folder Game
-2 pages to laminate into the file folder
-1 page of shamrocks to use as file folder manipulatives
Students complete simple AB patterns with shamrocks to build their foundational number sense.

Making 10 File Folder Game
-2 pages to laminate into the file folder
-1 page of numbers to use as file folder manipulatives
Students practice the foundation for simple addition to 10 by reviewing ten frames and answering the question "how many more to make 10?" by seeing how many more shamrocks are needed to fill the frame. Students match correct numbers to the number blank after the ten frame to complete the center.

Completing Addition Sentences: Counting Up File Folder Game
**Challenge Folder
-2 pages to laminate into the file folder
-1 page of numbers to use as file folder manipulatives
-1 ten frame to scaffold students
-1 page of ten frame shamrocks for manipulatives
Students practice simple addition to 5 and start getting a basic understanding of addition patterns with this game focusing on four number sentences at a time. It shows how when the answer stays the same and one addend "counts up" that the other "counts down" or decreases/counts backwards, etc. Ex: 1+4=5 2+3=5 3+2=5, etc. Students match correct numbers to the number blanks to complete the center.

Completing Addition Sentences: Addition Pairs File Folder Game
**Challenge Folder
-2 pages to laminate into the file folder
-1 page of numbers to use as file folder manipulatives
-1 ten frame to scaffold students
-1 page of ten frame shamrocks for manipulatives
Students start getting a basic understanding of addition patterns with this game focusing on two number sentences at a time. It shows how when addends switch places you can still achieve the same answer. Ex: 2 + 3 = 5 and 3 + 2 = 5 Students match correct numbers to the number blanks to complete the center.

These work great for centers, small group review or assessment games, RTI, and independent tasks. Attach magnets for cookie tray centers or velcro to make file folder activities.

**Tip: Make smaller centers by printing "multiple" pages to one page in your printer settings.
