St. Patrick’s Day Language Arts Centers and Activities – It’s time for leprechauns, shamrocks, good luck and lots of green! This is the Language Arts part of my Shamrock Shenanigans Math and Language Arts Bundle
. There are four ELA activities that can be used as a whole group, small group or in partners. All activities are easy to prepare and include lots of ideas for differentiation, as well as both color and black-and-white pages for just about everything! Common Core standards for each activity for both first and second grade are listed. Here’s what’s included:
Over the Rainbow: board game to practice spelling - I included a variety of word lists – long and short vowels, vowel teams, grade 1 sight words, grade 2 sight words and a blank sheet for you to create your own list; great for partners or small groups, or project the gameboard and divide the class into teams.
What’s That Word?: Practice parts of speech – this activity can be used with any combination of the sorting cards (leave out the ones you don’t need); I included directions and Word Helper pages, both with and without adverbs.
Contraction Match-Up: sorting the contractions helps students see similarities between different patterns
Making Words: 2 words to choose from – SHAMROCK and LEPRECHAUN; ; words can be sorted by number of letters or by syllables
